Life in the idyllic NorCal town split into two Americas

A corner of Main Street began to bustle about half past 4 p.m. on a drizzling Friday afternoon in April as the folks of Ferndale gathered for the ribbon cutting of its newest addition to the picturesque strip. The opening would also serve as a chance for this community tucked up in Northern California to honor two pastimes customary for any small town: break bread, and spill some tea.  They huddled in a horseshoe formation around the doorway of The Boardroom, a charcuterie and small plate outlet that intends to connect locals and visitors over Humboldt County nosh.
